Sallisaw, Oklahoma
As part of the Fort Smith, Arkansas-Oklahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area, Sallisaw serves as the county seat of Sequoyah County. It is conveniently located on Interstate 40, U.S. Highways 59 and 64. The town is known for its beautiful landscapes and vast recreational activities. Highlights include Kerr Lake, Brushy Lake State Park, and Dwight Mission. The historic Sequoyah’s Cabin, built in 1829, includes a museum dedicated to the prominent Native American silversmith known for his development of the written alphabet for the Cherokee language.
