Fall is a fun time to visit Alma! The city will play host to several exciting events in late October.

The Alma Farmers’ Market will celebrate the end of the season with its first-ever holiday market on October 28!  Vendors and artisans will be selling hand-crafted products and quality retail items, perfect to place under the tree or in the stocking! Farmers’ Market is located by the red caboose at 533 Fayetteville Road in downtown Alma.Holiday Market will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, visit the Alma Farmers’ Market website.

During Holiday Market, the Alma Area Chamber of Commerce will present its inaugural “Main Street Very Few Rules Chili Cook-off.” The contest will take place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For $5, visitors will be able to enjoy unlimited samples of contestants’ chili. All proceeds will benefit the Alma Main Street Merchants Association. There is no cost to enter the competition, but participants will need to provide 3-5 gallons of chili to serve to those who buy taster kits. The Alma Area Chamber of Commerce will also hold the 2017 Weenie Dog and Wannabe Dash and Pet Costume Contest at the Farmers’ Market on October 28. The Costume Contest will take place at noon, followed by the Weenie Dog and Wannabe Dash at 12:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded. Proceeds will benefit the Almost Home Pet Shelter in Van Buren.
